FDNY Firefighter Seriously Injured Battling House Fire

A firefighter suffered a serious but not life-threatening injury during a two-alarm fire that tore through a home in the Midland Beach area of Staten Island.

An FDNY firefighter was seriously injured during a two-alarm fire on Staten Island on Wednesday.

The fire broke out shortly before 7:30 p.m. at a three-story house in the Midland Beach area, WPIX-TV reports. When crews reached the scene, flames could be seen shooting from the home.

While battling the fire, a firefighter suffered a serious injury and was taken to the hospital. Although the injury was serious it wasn't considered life-threatening.

A civilian also suffered minor injuries. That individual, however, refused treatment at the scene.

The fire was brought under control by around 9:30 p.m., according to WPIX. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
